Lawson and Clint Allen Scholarship and Education Program
In 2012 Lawson and Clint Allen, seasonal residents of Essex whose family ties to Essex go back over a century, endowed a scholarship through the Essex Community Fund to assist a graduating high school senior and resident of the Town of Essex, New York to attend an accredited two or four-year college. The Allen’s are proud to empower the life goals of deserving Essex students with the expectation that they will “pay it forward” through their contributions to their community and the nation. The Lawson and Clint Allen Leadership and Academic Scholarship may renew each year up to three years provided the recipient maintains a good GPA and makes normal progress toward a degree.
In academic year 2015-16 the Allen Scholarship supports four students with awards of $3,500:
- George Hearn, Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam
- Tyler Bridge, Paul-Smith’s College
- Lilly Kelly, SUNY Plattsburgh
- Johno Luke Barns, University of Vermont
