As construction of a new band shell at Lake Placid's Mid's Park nears, a volunteer fundraising committee still needs to raise about $40,000 to help the project become a reality.

Bill Billerman of the Paul White Memorial Bandshell Fundraising Committee said recently that the village of Lake Placid has accepted a bid from Murnane Associates to construct the band shell. Work is expected to begin in September.

Meanwhile, donations are still being accepted. Here are two easy ways to contribute:

  • Send a check to the Paul White Memorial Bandshell Fund c/o the Adirondack Community Trust, PO Box 288, Lake Placid, NY 12946
  • Give online. Click on the “Add fund/any special instructions” link on the review page and type in “Bandshell Park Fund.”
