More for Gore

Above: Thanks to support from the Community Fund for the Gore Mountain Region, Seagle Music Colony is able to bring opera programs to schools in the Gore area.

The Community Fund for the Gore Mountain Region awarded $12,530 in grants to 17 organizations this year. The fund’s director, Tom Magee, says, “the organizations and community groups in our area know the needs of our residents, and the grants we make help them deliver important services that improve quality of life.”

For example, Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake received funding to continue its in-school opera program, which serves all of the schools in the Gore Mountain region: Schroon Lake, Minerva, Johnsburg, and North Warren. “The program helps introduce the operatic art form to almost 900 Adirondack young people with a minimal impact to fragile school budgets,” says Seagle Music Colony General Director Tony Kostecki.
